Cascade du Dard was the perfect spot to explore after being totally wiped out from Grand Balcon Sud due to the high levels of exposure and a bit of altitude sickness. During our trip, the temperature in the Alps was super high and this waterfall was the perfect place to cool down in the shade by running water. We only saw 2 other hikers and basically had the waterfall all to ourselves!
Views of the Mont Blanc massif, glaciers, and Alps were great but the exposure on this hike was pretty terrible. A bit of altitude sickness, a headache, and the sun bearing down on us did not help. Some of the best views of Mont Blanc though so glad we did the hike.
Definitely a favorite hike of mine. We started at Mer de Glace and hiked up to the cable car station. Amazing views of Chamonix and the Alps along the way. Ate at the restaurant just below the cable car station and ate a tasty meal paired with a glass of wine. The hike up to the cable car after eating was a bit more work than expected, then altitude sickness set in for me. We walked out to Lac Bleu and back to the cable car to head back down to Chamonix. Very fun day on the Mont Blanc massif despite a little bit of elevation sickness.
Really fun hike with stunning Matterhorn views. After hiking Gornergrat a day earlier this hike was a great way to look back at the 4,500 foot descent. For a shorter downhill hike it's a must see when visiting Zermatt. We ended the hike at Restaurant Furri for lunch.
One of my favorite hikes with amazing Matterhorn views for almost the whole way. We originally planned to ride the train back from Riffelberg but hiked to Riffelalp instead. When we reached Riffelalp, we just missed the train with another coming in 1 hour so we hiked over 4,500 feet from Gornergrat down to Findelbach. We saw no hikers and only a couple of mountain bikers between Riffelberg and Findelbach stations. I would not recommend hiking the section from Riffelalp to Findelbach since the Matterhorn views are the best along the hike before Riffelalp station.
Stunning lake with a ton of trout. The llamas were a fun unexpected addition to the walk. Showed up in the early morning on a rainy day and enjoyed the lake with minimal people.
Great way to enjoy the Lauterburnnen valley without many other people. More tourists along the road portion of the walk but the riverside trail is quiet.
Beautiful waterfall that can be seen all over the Lauterbrunnen valley. I waited at the viewpoint near the trailhead but the area is crowded with tourists.
