First hike of 2026 up the Mt. Tom Service Road. We did not hike to the vista but instead got exercise. The service road was updated in 2025 from logging efforts and no longer includes deep ruts or overgrown grasses. Some obstructed views (winter) of the nearby hills and mountains.
Very fun and scenic castle walk in the Rhine Valley. I did not expect much but the panoramic views of the Alps and the historic castle were well worth the short hike.
This lake is very secluded, we only saw one other family at the lake that day. Great views of the Swiss Alps and a short walk around the lake. This is a must-see lake if you're driving through Davos and want to explore a short hike with very few people.
This trail is a scenic walk around Lake Davos and is not challenging at all. Very easy walking and nice views of the Swiss Alps. We even found cows grazing alongside the trail, probably my favorite part.
Beautiful views of the western side of Fluela Pass near Davos. If you're following the Grand Tour of Switzerland road trip signs, do not miss this one. A large waterfall even plummets into the mountain pass just uphill from the lookout point.
A nice roadside stop in the middle of Fluela Pass to views of the alpine lake. When we showed up the temperature had dropped quite a bit so it was actually freezing outside. We did not stay for very long but the views were nice and were worth stepping out of the car on our road trip drive from Ortisei to Weesen that day.
The waterfall in Fluela Pass was an unexpected stop on our road trip drive from Ortisei through Davos on our way to Weesen. Great views of the waterfall from the parking lot but the walk is worth exploring especially to see the 130-meter waterfall up close. Great views of the mountain pass too.
We hiked this trail on our drive from the Dolomites (Ortisei/Bolzano area) through Davos and beyond. At first we almost skipped Swiss National Park but on the drive we had a construction stop sign near the trailhead parking lot. This short hike lead through evergreen forests and provided a really great place for us to stretch our legs on this road trip day. Not too much to see unless there's no cloud cover, but it's a fun family-friendly forest hike.
After being rained/snowed/iced out of our Tre Cime di Lavaredo hike, we drove back down the mountain and walked around Lake Antorno. Glad we did because this lake was beautiful. We even found donkeys grazing in the forest just north of the lake which was probably my favorite part. Awesome views of the Italian Alps pretty much anywhere from the loop trail. If you're in the area of Misurina, do not skip Lake Antorno!
This is fun and easy hike around Lake Misurina with great views of the Italian Alps from pretty much anywhere along the loop. We hiked this trail while waiting for our entry pass for the drive up to Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Ate a cannolis and had some espresso after the hike at Bar Da Dino - highly recommend grabbing food there.
A very short walk along the lake's edge. Lake Landro is not as stunning as other nearby lakes but it's even more secluded than Lake Dobbiaco. We showed up when the alpine peaks overhead were covered in clouds but it made for a beautiful roadside stop in the Dolomites on our lake exploration day.
