Orrido di Bellano

Bellano, AA
0.3 miles / 0.5 km
September 21, 2025
Amazing spot to explore around Lake Como! We showed up for opening hours and explored Orrido di Bellano with very few people. The walk through the gorge is super fun especially if you show up with no crowds. Turquoise water, large waterfalls, and great views along the walk made the entrance fee worth it.

Castel Grande Walk

Bellinzona, AA
0.4 miles / 0.6 km
September 20, 2025
Castel Grande was a really fun stop on our long drive from Chamonix to Lake Como. Views of the nearby castles were stunning and the walk out along the castle wall with views of the vineyard made the castle well worth stopping at. No entrance fee to walk around the castle grounds either.

Great views from Gotthard Pass of Airolo, the Alps of Ticino, and the massive waterfall tumbling down from the pass. No hiking required, great for road trips.

Lake Lucendro (Lago di Lucendro) Hike

Airolo, AA
1.4 miles / 2.3 km

Short but fun hike up to the lake. We took the harder route up and followed the paved path down. Great views of Lago di Lucendro and beautiful mountain pass views of Gotthard Pass from the trail.

Nufenen Pass Overlook

Obergoms VS, AA
0.4 miles / 0.6 km
September 20, 2025
Driving up Nufenen Pass was a bit crazy with a ton of bikers and motorcyclists. Views from the top were amazing and the short hike out to the viewpoints with the Bernese Alps in the distance was well worth the drive to get there.

Drove into France from this road then on our way back we stopped at this overlook. Beautiful perspective of the entire valley.

Very fun walk to the ruins with an amazing reflection view of the Mont Blanc massif. Did not expect this walk to be as nice as it was. Would do this one again.

Cascade du Dard

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, AA
0.3 miles / 0.5 km
September 19, 2025
Cascade du Dard was the perfect spot to explore after being totally wiped out from Grand Balcon Sud due to the high levels of exposure and a bit of altitude sickness. During our trip, the temperature in the Alps was super high and this waterfall was the perfect place to cool down in the shade by running water. We only saw 2 other hikers and basically had the waterfall all to ourselves!

Grand Balcon Sud Hike

Réserves Naturelles Aiguilles Rouges
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, AA
2.5 miles / 4.0 km
September 19, 2025
Views of the Mont Blanc massif, glaciers, and Alps were great but the exposure on this hike was pretty terrible. A bit of altitude sickness, a headache, and the sun bearing down on us did not help. Some of the best views of Mont Blanc though so glad we did the hike.

Grand Balcon Nord Hike (Mont Blanc)

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, AA
4.8 miles / 7.7 km
September 18, 2025
Definitely a favorite hike of mine. We started at Mer de Glace and hiked up to the cable car station. Amazing views of Chamonix and the Alps along the way. Ate at the restaurant just below the cable car station and ate a tasty meal paired with a glass of wine. The hike up to the cable car after eating was a bit more work than expected, then altitude sickness set in for me. We walked out to Lac Bleu and back to the cable car to head back down to Chamonix. Very fun day on the Mont Blanc massif despite a little bit of elevation sickness.

Matterhorn View Hike (Schwarzsee to Furi)

Zermatt, AA
2.6 miles / 4.2 km
September 16, 2025
Really fun hike with stunning Matterhorn views. After hiking Gornergrat a day earlier this hike was a great way to look back at the 4,500 foot descent. For a shorter downhill hike it's a must see when visiting Zermatt. We ended the hike at Restaurant Furri for lunch.
