Finding the General Greene Tree was not difficult. The trail that connects the Bates Ferry Trail to the General Greene Tree was muddier than the Bates Ferry Trail and included a small creek crossing just after a nice bridge crossing that provided views of a nearby creek. The Congaree River was flowing high with muddy-brown waters but still provided a nice view from the end of the trail. Easy hiking.
Easy hiking but muddy most of the way. Lots of large puddles but most were manageable. Enjoyed the large old-growth trees on trail and in the swamps. Lake views were nice but similar to the creek views. The highlight of the loop are the old-growth trees.
