Hawk Rock via Appalachian Trail

Duncannon, PA

Really nice hike up the AT to Hawk Rock Overlook. The crowds were pretty light on Black Friday but still saw other people hiking. A couple of groups at Hawk Rock Overlook when we got there. The hike out was miserable. I fell on rocks near Eagles Edge Vista and then the hike down the mountain was brutal. Would definitely skip the eastern trail and check out both vistas as an out-and-back hike instead of a loop. If you plan to hike the eastern trail it would be easier hiking up than down.
