Interesting trail in the middle of nowhere in this National Forest. The drive in to reach the trailhead followed dirt roads for a very long time before hiking down this path to reach large mounds of dirt in woods (the old Battery). Nice views of the river from the Battery and seemingly some campsite areas nearby.
Interesting walk to reach the old plantation house. The trees that lined the driveway were quite stunning. The entrance seemed very uninviting with minimal signage from the National Forest. Unfortunately the NF provided no information on the property or its history. We did not enter the house but took a look at the inside from the front porch.
Great hike to a scenic waterfall, especially for this part of SC. The rock had fallen over years prior, so the waterfall is definitely the main attraction along this route.
