Visited Barbour Rock from the Northern Terminus of the WRT on a damp, rainy morning! Hit the trail early with a headlamp and enjoyed a quiet morning in the woods!
Beautiful hike! Naval Run was running a good bit higher than it was when I visited a couple weeks ago to tackle Half Dome. This time I had to take off the shoes, jumping across rocks just wasn't gonna cut it. The hike up to the top got the blood flowing and the big view was a nice reward. It was cool to see Half Dome from up here, to really get a sense of its scale and steep slope.
A pretty little loop in the woods. Lots of rocks with lush green moss growing on them. The vista is a nice spot, though slightly obstructed by trees growing in from the right side.
Really enjoyed this hike, aside from the sketchy little bridge near the start! Jerry Run and Bohen falls were gorgeous after some steady rain. The campsites look like fun spots to stay! The climb after the falls up to West Rim Road passed through some beautiful scenery
A fun walk in the woods. No big breathtaking views, but the trail is pretty. I hiked it on a foggy morning and the woods were super peaceful. I had to stop by the old Schoolhouse since the trail passes so close to it.
This trail lives up to the hype! Went counterclockwise, hitting the Ravens' Horn early in the hike. The elevation gain and mileage make for a great workout!
Insanely steep terrain, with plenty of downed leaves and mud to make things trickier. Had to move slowly and pay very close attention to footing. Impressive view from the top looking back toward the Bob Webber trail
Gorgeous big wide view from the vista! It's nice to look across the gorge at Houselander. The backside of the mountain still had a bit of snow on the day I went.
Climbed after some overnight snowfall. Had to move slowly with careful footing, but the view up top was breathtaking. Saw a few deer running through the woods near the quiet quarry
Bull run made for a solid climb. The little waterfalls along the way were gorgeous. I reached the vista at the perfect time to watch snow rolling up through the gorge. I watched Pine Creek disappear into a whiteout; one of the most beautiful moments I've had in the woods. Truly an amazing hike, and I hated to see it end when I made my way back down the Bull Run trail under fading daylight.
The road was pretty snowy and trying to park along it felt a bit sketchy, so I parked near the Rail Trail access in Ramsey. From there I took the Midstate trail to climb the mountain and approached the summit from the North side, before following through to check out the southern vistas near the private property line. Doubled back the way I came for a total of 9.9 miles with 1,926 feet of elevation gain. A fun workout and a beautiful winter hike!
