One of my favorite off-trail waterfall hikes - so much beauty packed into this area & all hidden/seldom seen! Parked at Fourmile vista, then after walking up road a bit to where it bends, dropped down to Fourmile confluence (not too difficult). Such a unique place - my favorite confluence in PA along with Satterlee Run in SGL36! Perfect waterfall conditions! Then headed downstream to the amazing Rock Alter falls, followed by powerful Fourmile falls which was challenging to get to base of using the left/north side. Much more challenging climb back up wet & steep banks to start but all well worth it! Drove over to do Turkey Path, but signs still had closed for season so didn’t get to go down to see Rexford Branch falls.

Perfect waterfall conditions! Drove down Forest rd to base of run (much easier than previous time where I waded shoulder-depth across Pine Creek from the rail trail side!). Fairly easy off-trail scramble up Owassee Slide Run to the towering Chimney Hollow falls - one of most impressive falls in all of PA! Also walked down to Pine Creek to enjoy the fast flowing beauty. On way back up Owassee Rd stopped for short/easy off-trail to Strap Mill Hollow falls for first time which is nice mid-size with a huge Hemlock towering beside it.

Quick climb up from the parking area on the other side of the main road. Cool rock formations, but unfortunately have graffiti on several parts. Decent view from on top, but cooler just looking at the rocks themselves. Also hiked Thousand Steps to MST & looped back Raven Trail (linked my GPX to Raven Trail). Also did short off-trail for the cascading streams on both sides of the parking area which were flowing well & beautiful.

Nice challenge with good way up to make loop with MST & Raven Trail. Most of the rock steps are sturdy, but do have to take your time as some are smaller and can shift on the steep bank. I linked my GPX to the Raven Trail but did loop all (including Castle Rocks) still under 3 miles.

Beautiful afternoon for nice loop up Castle Rocks, then over to go up Thousand Steps trail to MST, then back down to Raven trail. Also explored the nice cascades of the other nearby streams flowing well & so clear! Trails in great shape. Such a peaceful state park!

Short but challenging with technical rock scramble up AT (not too steep though). Amazing views from top, especially off-trail out to edge! Winter Trail (blue blaze) down very nice with plenty of Pines to enjoy, and views over river towards bottom. Neat to see the huge fencing that protects from falling rock mountainside!

Beautiful, sunny Winter day to enjoy the LT (& more)! Microspikes the entire time with trails fully snow/ice. Started straight up Falls Run (frozen Angel Falls was spectacular, as was Gipson falls plus an ice wall beside!), then LT into Kettle Creek Wild Area, up to Mary’s View, then off-trail all the way down Dutters Run with several awesome frozen falls all the way to Dry Run falls. Looped back using Dutters Trail, McCarty Rd, & LT for a perfectly challenging day with nobody seen until the very end!

Enjoyed vista (1 of best in PA being so expansive) for long time climbing around rocks with my young daughter, then flat easy hike on Tuscarora trail (carrying her most of time) - chilly & overcast but not bad. Nice that you can just drive to. Nearby Cowan's Gap State Park with nice lake nearby that can be used for longer hike.

Beautiful area with everything you could ask for in a hike (waterfalls, vistas, secluded forests, rock formations)! Much more challenging with snow/ice, but absolutely worth it! Did all of Cape Run, Ketchum Run, & Alpine views. Longer hike since forest roads closed for winter.

Off-trail walk through forest unable to find other Hoagland vista to start (main vista is excellent), then followed trail down to stream & off-trail back upstream. Took shortcut straight up the steep mountain side back to trail - tiring but worth the time savings. All of the waterfalls along the main & side stream are really nice, with Emerald Falls being the best.
