Nice short loop around Bear Lake. Super pretty in the early morning when very few people are on the trail. By comparison, when we finished the Lake Haiyaha Loop (Mills, The Loch, Dream Lake, Nymph Lake), this trail was packed with people at 1PM. Show up early if you want to enjoy Bear Lake with some seclusion.
Perfect spot for an evening or sunrise walk. This trail is super busy on weekends but less busy during the weekday. During our hike here, we saw an elk and a muskrat run up a hiker's leg.
Very long hike but well worth the effort. The lakes were beautiful and the scenery was unmatched by other hikes I've done. Dislikes: the snowfields along the Lake Haiyaha Trail - they seemed endless, scrambling to Lake Haiyaha - a bit dangerous, and the super steep snowfields along the mountain slopes down to Dream Lake - terrifying. Still an amazing hike with a ton of sights to see along the way.
