Challenging hike/trail run combo in the snow (used micro-spikes), but several of the best vistas in all of PA looking even more spectacular snow-covered! Looped BFT & Gas Line Terrace to enjoy the best of both! All trails easy to follow, even with no tracks & snow. Hardest part in winter is where to park - went to the end of Wolfe’s where no signs were (& they were closed anyway).

Hiked up from Naval Run to Hemlock Mtn vistas along the Black Forest Trail which was in excellent shape! One of my favorite vistas in all of PA, so happy to do for a bday hike after last doing in the snow over winter! Able to trail run back down the mountain which was fun!

Very challenging, but so many amazing vistas to enjoy, as well as beautiful forest seclusion! Trails very well-maintained! 22 mile day hike using BFT starting at Slate Run, then Slate Run & Old Supply trails to meet back up with BFT going up to Gas Line Terrace. Ended driving to the start of the BFT uphill to 2 last amazing vistas & back down.

5 stars for MST, as well as both Kline Ridge & Houselander vistas! Just some parts of Houselander trail overgrown & tricky to follow (especially down by trailhead), but overall a very nice trail too! Challenging but nothing super steep. Did loop starting at Ramsey, up MST, over to Kline Ridge, backtracked, then over Houselander trail to those vistas before down to Rt.44 (with 1mi road hike to finish). Awesome hiking early to go through the fog & seeing it settled in the Pine Creek valley!

Flat & easy family-friendly hike with a very nice waterfall along Red Run, plus 2 beautiful ponds and a great vista. Out-back along forest road trail. Waterfall has deep pool & neat rock grotto. Vista facing south was very nice with leaves at peak foliage! The lower pond is treated to lower acidity levels from mine run-off giving it a pretty color.

2nd time visiting - previously did with my daughter when she was 4 in winter. This was part of a much bigger day hike (2-car shuttle) starting by Butler Knob, past Throne Room, then up Thousand Steps all the way to Shorb's Summit & backdown to Rt.655 SGL access. Much tougher climb when already 20 miles in! Definitely worth climbing past Dinkey Shed to Mapleton, Quarry, & Shorb's summit views!

Beautiful forest area w/ well-maintained trails - well worth the climb for the spectacular views of the Pine Creek gorge (one of the best in the southern section for sure)! Went CW which has several switchbacks heading up (plus nice rock formations from old quarry), and then very nice straight/gradual downhill through Hemlock forest. 6yr old daughter had no trouble hiking the entire way (which is impressive considering the challenging elevation gain), so very enjoyable for the full family!

Really enjoyed this vista with wide & unique views! Did as part of much bigger loop, but started at Ramsey Rail trail access to this vista, then continued with another nice view at a campsite before continuing to the Bull Run vistas, MST, & Gamble Run.

Excellent vista - really neat that you get such a wide viewing point as you walk along, including Houselander Mtn (which I hiked shortly after this). Included this as part of bigger loop hike starting with Stone Cutter, and then also the other Bull Run Rd dead-end vista & MST down to Gamble Run.

Pretty Nice view - fairly long drive up the narrow forest roads, but at least in good condition. Not a must see, but drove up after hiking around Little Pine State Park.
