Views from Raven’s Horn are incredible. I stumbled upon rattlesnakes here before. The rest of the trail is just as scenic. More views up Bonnell Run and Beulahland. I’ve hiked this in both directions (Going up Bonnel Run first, Going up to Raven’s Horn first) - I prefer doing the latter.
Very scenic loop to soak in the fall foliage views. A good challenge hike and a good introduction to the Black Forest Trail. I did have trouble finding the trailhead, as it was blocked by a RV (it’s trailhead is right beside a campsite at the end of Naval Run Rd).
I’ve hiked this trail once in the summer, but I decided to do a sunset snowshoe through to the trail. Was a good leg workout and the snow depth increased as I made my way up. Incredible views at the end, as I enjoyed the sunset. Another classic hike within the Pine Creek Valley.
I went into this hike thinking that there would be only one view, being from Chimney Rock, but I was wrong! This turned out to be a real scenic hike, from the cascades on Bull Run to the multiple vistas from the side of the mountain. Definitely a great hike.
This was the first trail in the Pine Creek Valley that I completed. An awesome introductory trail that showcases the rugged topography and beauty of the area. I only have gone back once, but definitely is a great trail for new hikers to the areas.
Pretty cool walk to get there. Loved the signage before the extreme ascent. Several views at the top of Half Dome, as well as a Geocache. Would love to hike this again sometime, and be more prepared. (Didn’t have the best footwear or trekking poles).
Hiked during the Thunderstorm on 3/20/22. Very windy and rainy, but the post-storm skies were colorful and amazing. Stumbled upon Common Juniper and Eastern Red Cedar on the cliff edge, never seen before! Always a favorite trail to stop at while in the area.
