The last time I came here in January 2017, the two bridges that cross the creek at the beginning of the trail were starting to wash out. There were signs that stated 'hike at your own risk'.
Went back in Dec 2016 and stayed in the cabin by the summit. The trip up in the winter can be sketchy within the last mile as the trail's grade increases and there are more rocks and ice to deal with.
Mid-summer group camp in the larger site along the pond. Fishing Bourn Pond is difficult from the shore since the pond is extremely shallow and full of weeds along the shoreline.
Went back the following weekend in April. Ended up camping directly behind the cabin about 1/8 of a mile beyond the hill. Depending on the rainfall there may be a large pool of water, but there are flat spots for tents close by.
