Alternatively, the SGL 208 Phoenix Run Trail (0.6 miles) in Galeton features a seasonal waterfall and opportunities to spot Trillium flowers in the spring. Remember that ample parking is available off a discrete dirt road marked with SGL signs for the Pine Creek Trail.

For a more demanding hike, conquer Elephant Mountain, an 8.5-mile out-and-back trail near Gaines, PA. This trail is rated as difficult due to its length and limited shade, requiring sun protection and plenty of water. Please note that the trail crosses private land belonging to Patterson Lumber Co., LLC, where hikers have right-of-way, but it is imperative to stay on the logging road. When visiting any of these trails, be mindful of hunting season, wear blaze orange for safety, keep dogs leashed, and be prepared for potential overgrowth, particularly during late spring to early fall. Camping is not permitted on State Game Lands 208.
