Maple Hill Meadow View at Maple Hill State Forest near Chemung, New York is an easy 0.2-mile out-and-back walk that leads through a wildflower meadow and features views of the neighboring mountains.Walk Description
This is not a hike but rather a short walk that the hiker can choose how far they really wish to travel on this overgrown state forest trail. During late August, the wildflowers here are popping with a large variety of different species like Pink Bee Balm, Goldenrod, Black-Eyed Susans, and more. The meadow and surrounding views can even be enjoyed from the road, so no walking is required to take in some of the views at Maple Hill Meadow; however, the best views lie just 0.2-miles down the trail.
Parking
Hikers will find parking at the coordinates provided along the entrance road into Maple Hill State Forest. Note that this dirt road is a bit rough and steep in some sections on the ride up. The road is likely not maintained during the Winter.
Pets
Dogs are allowed if leashed and should be cleaned up after.

Camping is allowed at Maple Hill State Forest so please follow all rules and regulations if camping or backpacking.
