Little Trail and Nature Loop at Mount Tom State Reservation in Holyoke, Massachusetts is an easy 0.4-mile one-way trail that connects Reservation Road to the Nature Loop and ends at a small lookout point along the Nature Loop.
The trailhead is shared with the Keystone Trail (western trailhead), but breaks off within
the first 0.1 mile. So you'll first need to hike in on the Keystone Trail to reach the trailhead for the Little Trail. This trail is roughly 0.3 miles long before taking a left-hand turn at the Nature Loop. The loop itself climbs a small peak with a small overlook offering
a view of the northeast side of Whiting Peak. The trail is generally
flat and easy, the very short climb to the small summit is somewhat
steep but not difficult and should be considered easy.
After heading down from the lookout along the Nature Loop, you can continue southwest to the Quarry Trail, hike the entire Nature Loop, or head back to parking. This recording follows ends at the lookout point, but does not follow the entire trail to complete the Nature Loop. Please use the HikeBike or OpenStreetMap tiles on the map to view where the loop goes.
Parking: Parking is available across the street near the trailhead at the coordinates provided.
Pets: Dogs are allowed if leashed and their waste must be carried out by the hiker.
MyHikes is an indie web platform aimed to make exploring public trails easier for everyone. The site has no investors and is owned and operated by one person, Dave Miller (Founder & Admin). As the Founder, main contributor, and doer-of-all-things for MyHikes, I share my trips with over-detailed write-ups for fun on a volunteer basis and I believe that public trail information should be available to everyone.
It takes a lot of time 🕦, money 💰, and effort (including espresso shots ☕) to run MyHikes, including hiking , mapping , writing , and publishing new trails with high-quality content... along with building new features, moderating, site maintainance, and app development for iOS and Android . I simply ask that if you find MyHikes' trail guides helpful to please consider becoming a Supporter to help keep the site, iOS, and Android apps available to everyone.
