Houselander View (Dead End Vista 4)

The Houselander View (Dead End Vista #4) at Tiadaghton State Forest near Tombs Run, Pennsylvania is a roadside out-and-back drive-able walk that features stunning views of Houselander Mountain at the southern end of the PA Grand Canyon.

Names
This vista has no official name, hence "Houselander View". Other folks might refer to this as Dead End Vista #4 or Bull Run Dead End Vista #4.

This is not a hike but rather a walk that visitors can also drive. For folks who do not wish to or cannot walk, this is a great drive-up vista; however, you'll have to fare dirt roads to reach it. Houselander View provides views of the stunning Houselander Mountain with its exposed pipeline slopes (private land) and mountains in the distance like Puterbaugh Mountain, Hogsback Mountain (private land), and Nail Factory Mountain (private land).

Camping
Note that camping is permitted at Tiadaghton State Forest. Camping is likely allowed here, but please follow all state forest rules and regulations. There were no campsites nearby as of August 2023, but there is a trail that leads off of the mountain where there might be a backpacking tent site along the way.

Parking
Visitors will find parking at the dead-end of Bull Run Road, at the coordinates provided.

Pets
Dogs are allowed if leashed and should be cleaned up after.

Another awesome vista - hiked here after going to Bull Run #3 as part of bigger loop hike. I like that you get a wider valley view facing east for this one, as well as the obvious gas line cut along Houselander Mtn.
