The Houselander View (Dead End Vista #4) at Tiadaghton State Forest near Tombs Run, Pennsylvania is a roadside out-and-back drive-able walk that features stunning views of Houselander Mountain at the southern end of the PA Grand Canyon.

Names
This vista has no official name, hence "Houselander View". Other folks might refer to this as Dead End Vista #4 or Bull Run Dead End Vista #4.

This is not a hike but rather a walk that visitors can also drive. For folks who do not wish to or cannot walk, this is a great drive-up vista; however, you'll have to fare dirt roads to reach it. Houselander View provides views of the stunning Houselander Mountain with its exposed pipeline slopes (private land) and mountains in the distance like Puterbaugh Mountain, Hogsback Mountain (private land), and Nail Factory Mountain (private land).

Camping
Note that camping is permitted at Tiadaghton State Forest. Camping is likely allowed here, but please follow all state forest rules and regulations. There were no campsites nearby as of August 2023, but there is a trail that leads off of the mountain where there might be a backpacking tent site along the way.

Parking
Visitors will find parking at the dead-end of Bull Run Road, at the coordinates provided.

Pets
Dogs are allowed if leashed and should be cleaned up after.

Another awesome vista - hiked here after going to Bull Run #3 as part of bigger loop hike. I like that you get a wider valley view facing east for this one, as well as the obvious gas line cut along Houselander Mtn.

MyHikes is an indie web platform aimed to make exploring public trails easier for everyone. The site has no investors and is owned and operated by one person, Dave Miller (Founder & Admin). As the Founder, main contributor, and doer-of-all-things for MyHikes, I share my trips with over-detailed write-ups for fun on a volunteer basis and I believe that public trail information should be available to everyone.

It takes a lot of time ๐Ÿ•ฆ, money ๐Ÿ’ฐ, and effort (including espresso shots โ˜•) to run MyHikes, including hiking , mapping , writing , and publishing new trails with high-quality content... along with building new features, moderating, site maintainance, and app development for iOS and Android . I simply ask that if you find MyHikes' trail guides helpful to please consider becoming a Supporter to help keep the site, iOS, and Android apps available to everyone.

Supporters unlock website and in-app perks with a one-time payment of $25 (you renew) ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘. Or you can simply make a Donation of your choice without a MyHikes user account. Otherwise, telling your friends about MyHikes is the next-best thing - both quick and free ๐ŸŽ‰
