Cross Trail

The Cross Trail at Tioga State Forest within the Asaph Wild Area near Westfield, Pennsylvania is an easy 0.6-mile out-and-back trail that leads into the Black Ash Swamp Natural Area with access to the Black Ash Swamp at the end of the trail.

The trail begins along Right Asaph Road and heads downhill the entire way until the hiker reaches the Black Ash Swamp Natural Area - right where the swamp drains out into a creek. At the end of the trail, it connects with another trail that has no signage as of July, 2020. The hiker can take a left-hand turn to follow the obvious trail that leads back to another part of Right Asaph Road or the hiker can take a right-hand turn to follow this trail closer to the swamp and adjacent.

On this hike, it was unclear where to head after reaching the trail junction, so we decided we'd check out the Black Ash Swamp during a cooler part of the year (this was tracked mid-Summer 2020).

The hike back to parking is not difficult - moderate at the worst, as it's all uphill the way back.

Parking
Hikers will find a very small parking area at the trailhead. The lot is large enough to fit about three vehicles, maximum.
