Antietam Lake Falls

Antietam Lake Falls at Antietam Lake Park in Reading, Pennsylvania is an easy 0.2-mile out-and-back walk that leads to the base of the 30-foot tall waterfall know as Antietam Lake Falls.

Exploring Antietam Lake Falls

Visitors to Antietam Lake Park will notice that the largest and most-scenic waterfall, located on the outflow of the lake, has no real parking access. With that said, it's a lesser-known location that visitors tend to overlook or simply drive by. This guide brings you directly to the base of Antietam Lake Falls. First, you'll want to park along the west side of Antietam Road, at the junction of Angora Road. Be careful when exiting your vehicle as there isn't much room along the pull-off lane. Then walk up Angora Road to reach the gated-off service road that leads to the base of Antietam Lake Falls. The waterfall can be appreciated from the trail as it tumbles down bedrock at about 30-feet high. Note that the outflow from the lake is controlled, but can change rapidly without warning so you should never swim in the waterfall's pool for your own safety.

Pets

Dogs are allowed if leashed and should be cleaned up after.

Parking

Visitors will find no official parking lot for Antietam Lake Falls, but you can park in the breakdown lane along Antietam Road near the junction of Angora Road, at the coordinates provided. Watch for oncoming traffic when exiting your vehicle and park at your own risk.

Warning

Dam releases: This waterfall is located at the dam outflow of Antietam Lake. It's best to keep some distance from the waterfall for your own safety as water levels can change rapidly based on scheduled or timed releases.
