The Addison Vista at Pinnacle State Park in Addison, New York is an easy 0.9-mile out-and-back walk that leads to the vista overlooking Addison and the surrounding mountains.
Hike Description
This is less of a hike and more of a walk that follows a portion of the Addison Vista Loop hike, but leads visitors directly to the view instead of taking them around trails at the park first. The "trailhead" in this case is the old park entrance road that, as of 2023, has a service road gate installed to prevent cars from driving down the road. There's now a large parking turnout by the gate at the newly-established trailhead.
Walkers will head straight down the entrance road until they reach the abandoned club house that sits at the end of the road. At the abandoned building, take a left-hand turn to head to the view.
Along the way, walkers will get views of the rolling hills of the park, mountains to the north that surround Coopers Plains, NY, and at least one southwest-facing view through the open meadows.
Addison Vista - Mile 0.5
At mile 0.5, hikers will reach the view. There's a picnic table available at the vista, but during warms months the grass is overgrown due to the lack of maintenance. Visitors can take in the views of the mountains surrounding Addison, NY before heading out for an easy 0.9-mile walk.
Parking
Hikers will find a parking turnout in front of the service road gate that blocks the old entrance road to Pinnacle State Park. The lot is large enough to fit over a dozen vehicles.
Pets
Dogs are allowed if leashed and must be cleaned up after.
MyHikes is an indie web platform aimed to make exploring public trails easier for everyone. The site has no investors and is owned and operated by one person, Dave Miller (Founder & Admin). As the Founder, main contributor, and doer-of-all-things for MyHikes, I share my trips with over-detailed write-ups for fun on a volunteer basis and I believe that public trail information should be available to everyone.
It takes a lot of time 🕦, money 💰, and effort (including espresso shots ☕) to run MyHikes, including hiking , mapping , writing , and publishing new trails with high-quality content... along with building new features, moderating, site maintainance, and app development for iOS and Android . I simply ask that if you find MyHikes' trail guides helpful to please consider becoming a Supporter to help keep the site, iOS, and Android apps available to everyone.
