About Polihale State Park

Discover the raw beauty of Polihale State Park in Waimea, Hawaii, a gem renowned for its dramatic coastline and breathtaking views of the Na Pali Cliffs. Getting to this secluded paradise, including Polihale Beach and the Na Pali Cliffs viewpoint, is an adventure in itself. Be prepared for a rugged 3.5-mile journey on unpaved roads riddled with ruts and potholes; a 4-wheel-drive or high-clearance vehicle is strongly recommended. This challenging access ensures the preservation of Polihale's untouched splendor, offering a unique experience for intrepid explorers.

Once you've navigated the road, a moderate 0.5-mile walk rewards you with unforgettable vistas of Kauai's iconic Na Pali coast. However, heed this caution: avoid making a turn at "Campsite Area 4" as deep sand there can easily trap vehicles. Please note that camping and overnight use at Polihale State Park are currently prohibited. Furthermore, be aware that rental car companies may have restrictions on driving off-road and cell service in this area is limited. Plan accordingly to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit to this spectacular natural wonder.
