The entrance trail welcomes dogs (on leash), providing an accessible way to enjoy the outdoors. However, be mindful that parking at the entrance can fill up quickly, particularly in the mornings. Remember to stay aware of your surroundings as you hike, keeping an eye out for potential hazards such as rattlesnakes, mountain lions, and poison oak.

Venture further into East Glenwood Open Space Preserve along the Red Loop, a 1.2-mile moderate trail showcasing the area's diverse landscape. This loop offers stunning scenic views, ranging from open hillsides and a tranquil pond to the cool shade of a dense forest. This trail is a haven for local wildlife, and you might even encounter livestock. Please note that dogs are not permitted on the Red Loop in order to protect the sensitive ecosystem. Like the entrance trail, hikers should be prepared for potential encounters with rattlesnakes and poison oak, and take necessary precautions against sun exposure during warmer months.
