Ya'Xaik Trail

The Ya'Xaik Trail at Gerdemenn Botanic Preserve in Yachats, Oregon is a moderate 0.7-mile loop trail that leads through a lush forest and botanic garden with exotic plants and features a tranquil escape from downtown Yachats.

This is a short loop trail through a lush forest that ends in the Gerdemann Botanic Gardens (hikers with dogs must exit the trail before the garden gate -- please note the signage and respect the rules). The trail officially ends in the north along US-101 by Earthworks Gallery and Beach Daisy Wines, where you can walk along the shoulder of the 101 back to your car. Walkers can access this trail from the 804 coastal trail by following the pavement on the North side of the Fireside hotel parking lot out to the 101. The initial ascent is a little steep but there are stairs and tree root steps throughout and it’s relatively short and not too strenuous, hence the moderate difficulty. The trail is well maintained but likely muddy in the rainy winter months as most of the trails are in Yachats.

After exiting the trail at either end, hikers will have to connect the loop. Please note that this trail map does not include the road walk portion, which increases the total distance of the hike to complete the loop.

Pets
Dogs are allowed only if leashed and cleaned up after but are only allowed outside of the official botanic gardens grounds, located on the norh side of this trail. Please respect the rules and keep your dog on the allowed path only.

Parking
Parking is at the trailhead at the back of the Fisterra Gardens Townhomes on Diversity Dr., across US-101 from the Fireside Hotel. There are several spots with signs for trail parking as of 2024.
