The Timberdoodle Flats Woodcock Loop Trail at Allegheny National Forest near Lewis Run, Pennsylvania is an easy 1.2-mile loop trail that features a beautiful woodland interpretive trail with a beaver pond and mixed forests.
This is just one of two loop trails within the Timberdoodle Flats Wildlife Interpretive Trails at Allegheny National Forest, but this trail follows the longer of the two loops. The other loop, not depicted in this GPS recording, is called the Bluebird Loop Trail. This trail also includes a short spur trail that leads to a beaver pond and a creek that flows out from the beaver dam, which is one of the main attractions along this trail.
The trail is mostly dirt and grass with several interpretive signs along the way that include information about animal habitats and landscape changes over time. The trail is flat but has a few benches located closer to the trail junctions with the Bluebird Loop.
This trail is great for families with kids.
