Salt Pond Beach South Access
Salt Pond Beach South Access at Salt Pond Park in Eleele, Hawaii (Kauai) is an easy 0.2-mile out-and-back walk that leads from a large parking lot and over to the tide pool area at Salt Pond Beach. This is not a hike, but simply an easy walk that leads to the beach from the parking area and back. Salt Pond Beach has a coral reef that encompasses a large section of the eastern side of the beach - creating tide pools for swimming and snorkeling. There's a lifeguard on duty and there are restrooms, showers, and shaded pavilions.
Salt Production
Adjacent to the beach is a private plot of land that's used to harvest salt (please stay out unless authorized) and is the only natural salt pond on Kauai. The salt ponds are strictly for Native Hawaiian use only. These salt ponds are part of a natural wetland and despite salt forming naturally here, the salt beds are mostly human-made.

Respecting the Land
