Salt Pond Beach
Salt Pond Beach at Salt Pond Park in Eleele, Hawaii (Kauai) is an easy 0.3-mile out-and-back walk from the main parking lot, passing the adjacent (private) salt ponds, and ends at the eastern side of the beach. This is not a hike, but rather an easy walk that leads out to the shores of Salt Pond Beach. Salt Pond Beach has a coral reef that encompasses a large section of the eastern side of the beach - creating tide pools for swimming and snorkeling. There's a lifeguard on duty and there are restrooms, showers, and shaded pavilions.
Salt Production
Adjacent to the beach is a private plot of land that's used to harvest salt (please stay out unless authorized) and is the only natural salt pond on Kauai. The salt ponds are strictly for Native Hawaiian use only. These salt ponds are part of a natural wetland and despite salt forming naturally here, the salt beds are mostly human-made.
