River Run Trail and Bridle Path Loop

The River Run Trail and Bridle Path Loop at the Vaughan Woods Memorial State Park in South Berwick, Maine is an easy 2.2-mile loop trail that runs along the banks of the Salmon Falls River.

This recording starts at the main gate for the Vaughan Woods Memorial State Park and follows the parking lot until reaching the short Shady Stroll Trail that leads into the main loop. Once you reach the first trail junction, stay right to keep along the River Run Trail. The River Run Trail will head south along the Salmon Falls River until reaching a trail junction with the Bridle Path after 0.8-miles. Follow the Bridle Path north for 0.9-miles until you reach the first trail junction with the Shady Stroll Trail and eventually you'll reach the parking lot.

The trails themselves are very well maintained with a fairly easy grade. This 2.2-mile loop hike would be great for families, or a quick hike or run after work.

Pets: Dogs are allowed on this trail if they are leashed and their waste is carried out.

Fee: There's a cash-only $3 entry fee for Maine residents and a $4 entry fee for non-residents. This fee is required regardless of parking in or outside of the main parking lot.

Park Info: Open 9:00 a.m. to sunset daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day unless otherwise posted at the gate. Visitors may continue using the park during the off season by parking outside the gate, without blocking it, and walking in during these same hours. Please place the admission fee in the self-service collection canister. Be aware that facilities are closed during the off season. There's a small playground within the park and restrooms open between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
