Ridenour Overlook

Ridenour Overlook at Raystown Lake Recreation Area near Huntingdon, Pennsylvania is an easy universally-accessible trail that leads to views of Raystown Lake and Raystown Dam from high above the lake.

Exploring Ridenour Overlook

This extremely-short paved trail begins on the east side of the parking area at the end of Ridenous Overlook Road. The left-hand side of the trail is universally-accessible while the right-hand side follows a series of stairs to reach the overlook. The overlook sits near the north end of the loop where visitors will find information kiosks of Raystown Dam and Raystown Lake with views below. Sitting behind the dam and lake are plateau-like mountains that add to the scenery. After exploring the overlook, the trail completes its loop by following a non-accessible staircase back to the trailhead.

Parking

Visitors will find a large parking lot at the coordinates provided, located at the end of Ridenour Overlook Road. The lot is large enough to fit about a dozen vehicles as of November 2024.

Pets

Dogs are allowed only if leashed and must be cleaned up after.
