The Puffer Pond Loop Trail at the Assebet River National Wildlife Refuge in Maynard, Massachusetts is an easy 2.6 mile hike that encompasses three different trails and runs around Puffer Pond. The hike is easy and mostly flat, crosses a couple if wooden foot bridges across the pond, and then tucks away in the woods on the western portion of the loop. The three trails include the Puffer Pond Trail, Otter Alley Trail, and Harry's Way Trail.
Along the trail, you get plenty of scenic views of Puffer Pond and some interesting bunker structures on the north side of the pond. This trail can be buggy during the Summer months, so prepare with plenty of bug spray, or plan this hike in the shoulder season to skip the bugs.
