Piegan Falls Lookout

The Piegan Falls Lookout at Glacier National Park near Saint Mary, Montana is a roadside view along Going-to-the-Sun Road of the 820-foot waterfall, Piegan Falls.

Exploring Piegan Falls

This roadside view along the Going-to-the-Sun Road on the east side of Logan Pass is a quick but scenic stop to take in the views of the waterfall located to the northwest. Piegan Falls is fed by a snowfield located in high alpine elevation on the south side of Piegan Mountain which sits around 7,544-feet above sea level. The snowfield melts during warmer months and sends water down the southeast slopes of the mountain. At about 820-feet above the Going-to-the-Sun Road, the flow reaches a cliff where it plummets off, forming the massive waterfall. The water continues down the slopes of the mountain before reaching a human-built spillway cascade before it passes under the Going-to-the-Sun Road and into Siyeh Creek.
