The Pebble Beach Whale Watching Trail in Crescent City, California is an easy 0.1-mile out-and-back trail that leads to a lookout platform where hikers can enjoy a seasonal view of the California Gray Whale migration.
This tiny trail is just a stones-throw long, but is a great stop to stretch your legs and potentially get a view of some California Gray Whales. California Gray Whales are known for their lengthy 9,000 - 12,000 mile round-trip migration along the west coast of North America. The whales spend their Summers in the arctic feeding, but then migrate to southern California during the Winter. The California Gray Whale migration peaks in Crescent City between March and May annually; however, if you show up off-season, you may still get to see one of these whales surface for air.
Pets Dogs are allowed if leashed and their waste must be carried out by the hiker.
Parking Hikers can find parking at the coordinates provided.
