California Gray Whales are known for their lengthy 9,000 - 12,000 mile round-trip migration along the west coast of North America. The whales spend their Summers in the arctic feeding, but then migrate to southern California during the Winter. The California Gray Whale migration peaks in Crescent City between March and May annually; however, if you show up off-season, you may still get to see one of these whales surface for air.
