Otter Point Secret Trail
The Otter Point Secret Trail at Otter Point State Recreation Site in Gold Beach, Oregon is an easy 0.2-mile out-and-back trail that leads to a beautiful vista of Gold Beach. This is a short, yet dynamic trail tucked away alongside the Old Coast Road outside of Gold Beach State Park. The beginning of the trail is very plain and unattractive, but it doesn't take long until the short trail reveals its true beauty. In just under a minute you enter another world that feels prehistoric with trees growing over the trail and steep hillsides adjacent to the trail. The steep hillside brings risk as you walk down a smooth dirt path with a dark drop-off to the side.
Not long after entering the trail, it opens up to an amazing view of an untouched Beach, where the hike can continue; however, the trail can often be overgrown. Hikers may not always be able to reach the beach from this trail due to the overgrowth.
Pets: Dogs are allowed if leashed and their waste must be carried out by the hiker.
