Mononatta Road Trail
Mononatta Road Trail is a 1.8 mile loop trail located within Forest Park in Springfield Massachusetts. Heading north from Pecousic Drive the trail starts off paved and shifts to gravel. At the fork you have the option to go straight or turn left over a small foot bridge. The right-hand turn is not well maintained - often overgrown and very wet - this section appears to be very popular with local wildlife judging by the amount of tracks. The trail can be hard to follow since the path is not well maintained. You will eventually arrive at another fork by a brook - turn left to continue the loop. At this point the trail opens up and is clear of overgrowth.Once you reach the top of the ridge, another fork will point you back down the ridge as the trail weaves its way over various small lookouts and returns you to the first foot bridge near the beginning of the trail. The upper portion of this trail has several extensions and offshoots but the main trail is easy to follow.
