Molas Pass Overlook

The Molas Pass Overlook at San Juan National Forest near Silverton, Colorado is an easy 0.1-mile out-and-back walk that features panoramic mountain views of the San Juan mountain range, located along the Million Dollar Highway.

This is not a hike but rather a short walk along a paved and universally-accessible trail that features panoramic, if not 360-degree views of the San Juan mountains that surround Molas Lake and the Million Dollar Highway. The trail provides views right off the bat with Snowdon Peak located to the southeast. As you walk the trail north, before the bend, you'll find Grand Turk Mountain. As the trail leads back southward, you'll find views of Molas Lake, located in the valley below and a long mountain range of the San Juan mountains as its backdrop. The trail ends at the main overlook where you'll find, arguably, the same views that you found on the way in. At the end of the trail are some interpretive signs to understand the area and mountains that you see. Enjoy the panoramic views before heading back to parking for a short 0.1-mile walk at Molas Pass.

Universal Access
This trail is universally accessible and follows a paved / concrete surface for the entire length of the path. The trail follows a very gradual grade uphill to the main lookout.

Visitors will find a large parking lot at the coordinates provided, located on the east side of the Million Dollar Highway. The lot is large enough to fit over a dozen vehicles as of June 2024.
