Middle Loop Trail

The Middle Loop Trail at Mount Tom State Reservation in Holyoke, Massachusetts is an easy 0.6-mile one-way trail that connects the Quarry Trail to the Tote Rd Trail (aka DOC to Abandoned Ski Resort Trail) and runs south to the Mountain Park Reservoir where it ends.

The trail name is confusing because the trail is not a loop at all, but you can use this trail to create a loop hike if you wish.

Parking: The parking coordinates provided will bring you to the parking lot next to Lake Bray. This parking lot is always open, but you'll need to hike uphill for just over 2-miles to reach the trailhead. There is a closer parking lot, located next to the abandoned ski resort; however, the gate to reach this area is not always open. The coordinates for this parking area are: 42.251932, -72.631206. If you choose to try and park here, you can reduce the hike in to the southern trailhead to about a 0.5-mile hike instead of 2-miles in from Lake Bray.

Reaching the trailhead: To find the northern trailhead for the Middle Loop Trail, you'll first need to hike in along the Keystone Trail (1.9-miles one-way), then head south along the Quarry Trail (0.3-miles one-way), to reach this trailhead.

Pets: Dogs are allowed if leashed and their waste must be carried out by the hiker.
