Lookout Rock Trail

The Lookout Rock Trail at Olympic National Park near Port Angeles, WA is an easy 0.1-mile out-and-back paved trail that leads to a lookout point of snow-capped mountains within the northern Olympic Mountain range.

Exploring Lookout Rock

This short paved trail runs from the main parking lot east toward a lookout point that sits high above the Maiden Creek / Morse Creek valley. The universally-accessible pathway leads through the forest before it reaches an opening on the mountain slope. Just before the main lookout area, the universally-accessible paved path ends where visitors will find a small staircase that leads to the lookout point. From the lookout, you'll find views of the Maiden Creek valley and the mountains that surround its southern headwaters like Maiden Peak and Green Mountain. If you show up in late spring or early summer, you'll likely find these mountains are still capped with snow. Once you're done, the short path leads back to parking for a 0.1-mile jaunt.

Universal Access

This trail follows a paved, universally-accessible path for approximately 90% of the entire length. The main lookout point is not universally-accessible, as of June 2025, but you'll find the same views from the top of the staircase that visitors appreciate from the end of the trail.

Parking

Visitors will find a medium-sized parking lot at the coordinates provided, located along Hurricane Ridge Road south of Port Angeles, WA. The lot is large enough to fit over a dozen vehicles as of June 2025.
