The Beam Rocks Trail at Laurel Summit State Park in Somerset, Pennsylvania is an easy 1 mile out-and-back hike that leads from Laurel Summit Rd out to Beam Rocks. Beam Rocks gives you views of the Applachian Mountain Range in Pennsylvania, parts of Gallitzin State Forest, and the surrounding towns in the valley below. Beams Rocks is an awesome lookout point and is not very popular compared to the Wolf Rocks Trail down the road. The actual lookout point is a cliff, roughly 60 feet in height, with various cracks between the boulders, so watch your step while getting onto the rocks.
Rock climbing at Beam Rocks is allowed, but you must climb at your own risk with the proper equipment.
This trail is lightly trafficked and follows red blazes before reaching the lookout point; however, the trail continues down the mountain along the red blazes and reaches other trails in the area which lead into Forbes State Forest.
