Kihei Dune Pathway
The Kihei Dune Pathway in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii is an easy 0.4 mile out-and-back walk along the beach just south of Waipuilani Park. The northern trailhead can be found at the back of the Kihei VFW, while the southern trailhead can be found in the middle of Ulunui Rd in Kihei.Stay on the trail to protect the dunes and to keep off of private property. There are various beach access trails that you can take to walk along the beach instead.
From the trail you can see the west Maui mountains, the isle of Kahoโolawe to the south, Molokini crater to the south, and the isle of Lanai to the west.
Parking: There's no parking along the road by the southern trailhead, so parking at the VFW or Waipuilani Park (and walking down) is easiest.
Respecting the Land
Hawaiian land is considered sacred to native Hawaiians and many locals, so please stay on-trail, take nothing but photos, and leave nothing but footprints. Respect the locals - don't stay for long and have a backup hike planned in case the parking lot is full.
