Ithaca Falls Trail
The Ithaca Falls Trail in Ithaca, New York is an easy 0.2-mile out-and-back trail that leads to the stunning 75-foot tall waterfall, Ithaca Falls.Ithaca Falls, standing 75-feet tall and 100-feet wide, is one of the largest waterfalls near Ithaca and one of the most popular trails in the area. The trailhead can be found on Lake Street, just north of the parking coordinates provided. The trail heads downhill and the follows Fall Creek out to the base of Ithaca Falls, giving hikers a stunning view.
Hikers can even find a beautiful view from the bridge along Lake Street - often fisherman will be found in Fall Creek as well.
Parking
Hikers can find parking at the coordinates provided at the small parking lots just south of the Ithaca Falls Natural Area. These parking lots can fit about a half-dozen cars each.
Pets
Dogs are allowed if leashed and their waste must be carried out by the hiker.
Warning
This area is prone to falling rock - some of which has been contaminated with lead by the former Ithaca Gun Factory that used to be located onsite. Hikers should refrain from the soil that sits next to the gorge's ledges and avoid falling rock or potentially coming in contact with lead contaminated material. Hikers should thoroughly wash their hands, shoes, and clothing if contact occurs.
