This area is a great place to observe many different kinds of birds and the information kiosk has a list and some information about birds that will enhance your visit. The substrate along the trail is easy to navigate without any major trip hazards to be careful on. The width of the trail fluctuates from as wide as a class six road to single file foot path. The trail is well marked with Orange Trail Blaze markers making it very easy to stay on the trail. Along the trail, hikers will note there are several pairs of strategically placed stumps; perfect for taking a rest and taking in the surrounding beauty and peaceful setting. The elevation is minimal and easy to climb and descend. The trail winds through a forest of mixed woods with Large White Pines, Maple, Oak, Birch and Hemlock throughout. Because of the mix of different trees, we were able to find several different types of mushrooms growing happily in this lush habitat. The trail affords lovely views of the Dinsmore Pond and the Nubanusit River. If you are both quiet and lucky you may be able to sneak up to see Great Blue heron, or Canada Geese basking in the shallow waters. Evidence of beaver activity and a beaver dam can be seen from the trail.
