Fort McClary Pond

Fort McClary Pond at Fort McClary State Historic Site in Kittery, Maine provides visitors with a short walk to reach viewing platform with opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Exploring Fort McClary Pond
To reach the Fort McClary Pond, visitors will park in the main parking lot for the Fort McClary Picnic Area and walk just a couple-hundred feet over to the pond. At the pond, you'll find a wooden viewing platform that juts over the water slightly, providing visitors with a spot to find wildlife. During our visit here in July 2023, there was a beautiful Great Blue Heron sitting in the pond approximately 30-feet away from the viewing platform.

Parking
Visitors will find a large parking lot at the coordinates provided (43.083819, -70.709759), located on the north side of Pepperrell Road in Kittery, Maine. The lot is large enough to fit over a dozen vehicles as of July 2023.

Dogs are allowed only if leashed and must be cleaned up after.
