Bucktail Overlook - Top of the World Vista
The Bucktail Overlook (aka Top of the World Vista) at Elk State Forest near Driftwood, Pennsylvania is a beautiful drive-able vista that has two panoramic views of the mountain tops within the PA Wilds.This vista does not have a defined trail that hikers can follow, but visitors can meander around the top of this mountain, following grassy fields, to take pictures from the different vantage points. This recording is about 0.2-miles long, but most folks visiting this vista will not need to walk around much to get a great view.
Parking
Hikers will find parking at the coordinates provided. Please note that if you plan to use Google Maps to drive to this destination, their map system will try bringing you down a private driveway and NOT the road that leads up to this overlook. Be on the lookout for green street signs - one of which is labeled "Fred Woods Trail" - this is the dirt road you want to drive up.
Road Conditions & Winter Maintenance
The road that leads to this overlook is a narrow dirt road and it does not have any winter maintenance.
