Walk Description
This short and flat walk begins at the main trailhead located at the parking coordinates provided and follows the paved universally-accessible trail around the park. This GPS track heads in a counter-clockwise direction which provides walkers with views of the scenic Leach Hill, located to the south. The park itself has sports fields which also include seasonal potable water stations where walkers (and ballplayers alike) can refill their water bottles. From the trail, mainly around 0.2 to 0.35, walkers will get nice views of Steege Hill, Leach Hill, and Harris Hill. The trail eventually loops back to the trailhead at mile 0.7.
Water Source
Note that the ball fields have potable water stations that are open to the public during warm months. There are no water stations during cold months.
Pets
As of January 2024, dogs are allowed only if leashed and must be cleaned up after. Note that there was a sign that mentioned due to recent events, the future of dog walking on this trail is under review -- if you wish to continue bringing your dog here, please leash and clean up after it every time.
Parking
Walkers will find a very large parking lot at the coordinates provided, located just off of Winters Road in Big Flats. The lot is large enough to fit a few dozen vehicles.
