Bear's Den is located in New Salem Massachusetts and offers stunning views of an often overlooked waterfall and an old mill site.
This short 0.25 to 0.3 mile moderate trail leads from the road into the reservation and immediately splits. A left-hand path heads towards the gorge and waterfall; while the right-hand path leads to the lower portion of the gorge and the old mill.
The trail does loop back to itself, however heading left on the trail is the easiest way to hike it. There are several small caves located in the gorge along the granite cliffs. The trail area is open and well maintained, a perfect setting for a meal and some time by the water. Swimming is discouraged.
Open daily from sunrise to sunset. Dogs are allowed on this trail.

MyHikes has no investors, no shareholders, and no goal to profit - we share trail data for the fun of it and put a ton of time tracking, writing about, and publishing new trails each month.
But it takes money and a lot of time and effort (including espresso shots) to run the site. Our content is and always will be free to use, including interactive trail maps and elevation charts, pictures from the trail, and dope points-of-interest like vistas, overlooks, waterfalls, backcountry campsites, abandoned structures, and more...
