Bear Mountain Accessible Overlook

The Bear Mountain Accessible Overlook at Bear Mountain State Park near Fort Montgomery, New York is an easy loop trail that features breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley and its surrounding mountains with Manhattan far in the distance.

Exploring Bear Mountain's Accessible Overlook

For visitors looking for a short stroll in the Hudson Valley with virtually no effort for an amazing payout, the top of Bear Mountain can't be beat. This universally-accessible trail leads downhill from the main parking area along a flat, paved path to reach several vista points from the top of the mountain. The views are mostly south-facing with mountains of the Hudson Valley surrounding Bear Mountain and the island of Manhattan located in the distance. To the east sits the Hudson River as it cuts through the valley.

Visitors can spend as much or as little time at the overlook as the total length is less than 0.1-miles long. Enjoy different views of the Hudson Valley from the various vista points, benches, and granite bedrock outcroppings.

Parking

Visitors will find a large parking lot at the very top of Bear Mountain, located at the coordinates provided: 41.311181, -74.00716. The lot is large enough to fit several dozen vehicles as of June 2026.

Dogs are allowed only if leashed and must be cleaned up after.
