Western Promenade Trail

The Western Promenade Trail in Portland, Maine is an easy 0.4-mile one-way trail that connects Valley St to Danforth St. This short 0.4 mile trail cuts along a small ridge to a bluff overlooking the Fore River and Portland International Airport. Views from the northern end of the park include the White Mountains.

This trail starts at the dog park and follows a gentle incline along side a steep slope and ends on Western Promenade across from the Western Cemetery. There is a short extension of the trail (shown in this trail map) roughly 25 yards from the southern trail head. This extension trail leads back down to the corner of Valley St and Danforth St - all of which can be seen form the trail head.

Trail name: Please note that there are more trails at the Western Promenade just north of where this trail meets with the Western Promenade Road. Follow the road north from the junction with the Western Promenade Road to find yet another Western Promenade Trail. These two trails do not connect though. For more details, chance the map tiles to use OpenStreetMap.

Parking: Parking is available at the Valley Street Dog park, this is also the location of the trail head.

Pets: Dogs are allowed if on leash and their waste must be carried out. There are trash bins located near the dog park.
