Please note that while the trails are well-marked, printing a map beforehand is recommended for your convenience. Remember to respect the sanctuary's guidelines: no dogs, fires, camping, or vehicles are permitted on the Black Fox Pond Trail.

For a slightly longer adventure, consider the Smith Brook - Patten Farm Trails loop, accessible via the Black Fox Pond Trail. This 3.4-mile easy hike within the Deering Wildlife Sanctuary offers varied landscapes, including pond vistas, a historic cemetery, and intriguing remnants of the past like an old cellar hole. Keep in mind the sanctuary's regulations: no hunting, camping, or motorized vehicles are allowed. Dogs are welcome, on leash only, on the Patten Farm Trail portion. Enjoy free and ample parking, but please be aware that restrooms and trash bins are not available on site. Access to the Patten Farm Trail cemetery is seasonal, dependent on road maintenance.
