10.0 Miles Easy
The Sawyer River and Sawyer Pond Trail in the White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire is an easy 10 mile out-and-back trail, great for beginner backpackers. Follow Sawyer River Trail about 3 miles to Sawyer River Road, take a left on the road, walk briefly on the road to a footbridge on the right, which is the beginning of Sawyer Pond Trail (no sign). Hike 1.5 miles to the pond.
The entire hike is about 10 miles out-and-back and about 5 miles one-way. The trail itself is not very difficult, but beginners may find it more moderate than easy.
Camping: There's a shelter and 6 tent platforms at the pond. The pond can get buggy during warmer months as well.
